Blue Hexagon, a deep learning-based security company, received a frantic call from a bank a few days ago. The bank executive said a bank in their extended network was attacked by a ransomware. But that was not all. The executive expressed dismay that their existing security systems took no action when they passed that ransomware through their network. The bank executive shared the ransomware details with Blue Hexagon hoping for a breakthrough solution. Much to the delight of the bank, Blue Hexagon’s deep learning-based security solution was able to catch that ransomware right away. “What differentiates us in the market is our ability to detect ransomware in real-time with a success rate of more than 99 percent,” says Nayeem Islam, CEO & Co-Founder of Blue Hexagon. Blue Hexagon is easy to deploy and scalable. Once implemented, it actively monitors threats in the network and provides optimum security right out of the box, with no further onsite training or delay. Some of the biggest companies in finance, insurance, eCommerce, and healthcare are using Blue Hexagon for protection against the ever-evolving security threats.

For one, the idea of Blue Hexagon didn’t dawn upon Nayeem overnight. As the head of Qualcomm’s R&D department for 11 years, Nayeem witnessed how deep learning was bringing renaissance in AI in the form of computer vision and computer speech (Siri, for example). But, at the same time, no one in the industry spoke about using AI to combat the increasingly sophisticated ransomware attacks. The existing solutions in the market demanded patterns or signatures as a reference to identify the threats; identifying zero-day threats, which ransomware exploits, was beyond their capacity. Aware of the unfortunate situation, Nayeem took upon himself to address the problem and founded Blue Hexagon. Built on advanced software algorithms, processing power, artificial intelligence, and neural networks, the company’s platform is pre-trained with high-fidelity intelligence to catch even the latest threat that has arrived first time on the scene.
The Blue Hexagon solution is available both as a hardware appliance and software. Clients can make their own choice and plug it in the network detection and response layer of their IT environment. The solution is also available in the form of an integration with AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure, where it inspects the cloud traffic. It boosts the performance of the existing security deployments by adding its unique deep learning detection capabilities to them.

In an implementation highlight, Pacific Dental Services, a large services company, uses Blue Hexagon across its global locations, and there has been no infiltration of ransomware ever since the implementation of the solution. In a different case study, Narvar, a company that manages the online front-end for some of the largest retail brands in the world, is using Blue Hexagon for threat monitoring and management. Nayeem is excited about the warm response for its solution by business decision-makers running their business on the cloud.

Moti Gindi, General Manager, Windows Cyber Defense, Microsoft, expressed similar interest in Blue Hexagon by saying, “We strongly believe that a tighter integration between the endpoint and network security control planes can create significant value for our customers. The integration of Blue Hexagon sub-second network threat detection with Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) provides the ability to detect both payload and header-based threats in the network and then signal across all Microsoft Defender ATP-protected endpoints in an enterprise. This provides our customers with superior speed, coverage, and efficacy of protection against known and unknown threats.”

Having broadened its clientele recently, Blue Hexagon is all set to help more companies protect themselves from the exponentially rising ransomware threats post COVID-19.
